The criteria to be chosen includes Further Music School’s students and their ABRSM exam performance over the last three years as well as the overall development of the school. Further Music School distinction rate is one of the best in New York State at 92% and the world average distinction rating is 2%.
Further Music School now joins three other schools in New York State schools with the distinguished and celebrated title of ABRSM Exam Center. ABRSM and Further Music School prides themselves upon its ability to inspire, motivate, and prepare students to become the best musicians that they can. Students can be assured that when they attend their examinations at Further Music School, their careful and dutiful preparations will be met with the highest standards that ABRSM and Further Music School uphold.
The ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) was established in 1889 within the United Kingdom. ABRSM has more than 650,000 assessments in over 90 countries, the ABRSM series of examinations are the most regarded and sought after in the world. The ABRSM series of exams contains levels 1-8 and is comprised of memorized pieces, sight reading, aural training, scales, and music theory, with each level becoming progressively more and more challenging. The exams cover an array of instruments including piano, organ, harp, singing, violin, viola, cello, clarinet, flute, horn, saxophone and percussion. Passing grades have three categories: passing, passing with Merit, and passing with Distinction.
