The ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) was established in 1889 within the United Kingdom. ABRSM has more than 650,000 assessments in over 90 countries, the ABRSM series of examinations are the most regarded and sought after in the world. The ABRSM series of exams contains levels 1-8 and is comprised of memorized pieces, sight reading, aural training, scales, and music theory, with each level becoming progressively more and more challenging. The exams cover an array of instruments including piano, organ, harp, singing, violin, viola, cello, clarinet, flute, horn, saxophone and percussion. Passing grades have three categories: passing, passing with Merit, and passing with Distinction.
